On a Mission

"Teaching's not a job, it's a mission." - B. LaMay

Starting at the end of August, I'll begin my year-long teaching placement at Mission High School in San Francisco. I am so excited!

That seems like a GREAT placement for you, Geetha! How cool!

Yahoo! I hope the placement works out well-it looks like a good place for you. :) Of course, we were cheering loudest for your San Jose option, but this is still pretty good!

It looks like a huge school but I guess just under 900 kids is not that huge compared to good old PHS. It does sound like a great place for you. It will be an interesting and exciting year for you. I want a library with a garden area--easier to do in CA than MI, I suppose.

Well done, Geetha! Will you be working with the kids from the start of the year to the end, or will you be in and out over the course of the year?

That'll definitely be nice to be in the same school for a full academic year no matter the situation. You'll be able to get to know the kids and the staff much better. Plus you'll get to see how the school deals with the kids during a "full cycle". Holistic pictures of the process are much better than snippets. :)

Yup, I'll be in the same classroom all year. The plan is that I will end up being involved with two class periods, and will end up taking one over by the spring quarter. Definitely an ideal way to do it, I think.
